It’s spring, the season of rebirth and renewal. How appropriate that this is the time when we conduct LDNY’s New Membership Drive.
On March 1st you should have received the materials needed to sponsor potential new members and I hope you will take this initiative seriously and present some of the smart, savvy women that you know from all disciplines within the food, fine beverage, and hospitality fields. New Dames enrich our organization by bringing diverse energy, talents, and fresh points of view. Please be sure to extend invitations to women that you know personally and note that applications are due by April 15. If you have questions or need the complete New Membership Application Packet, contact Dames Deborah Mintcheff or Marsha Palanci directly at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
On April 29 we will once again hold a fundraising dinner at New York City Technical College. This event is near and dear to my heart because it’s at the school where I received my own culinary training. I’m happy to announce that at this year’s event we’ll be honoring our founder, Carol Brock, and that we’ll also be hearing from a dynamic guest speaker, Sal Rizzo of De Gustibus Cooking School, who graduated from City Tech and can personally address the positive and lasting impact of LDNY scholarships on the school’s students. And if that’s not enough reason to attend: All of the proceeds from this dinner will go directly to our scholarship fund. I hope you will come out to salute Carol. To some of you Brooklyn may sound like a schlep, but City Tech is only one subway stop away from Manhattan. If you can’t make it, we hope you will make a donation via check or credit card to the scholarship fund in honor of Carol Brock.
Thanks to all of you for your tremendous support in the short time that I’ve been President. It’s been a pleasure to hear from you and I’m grateful that so many of you have stood up and volunteered to make us a stronger and more dynamic organization.
