Hope you’re enjoying cocooning during these cold days as much as I am. It’s been fun checking social media and seeing all the stews, soups, and breads you’ve been cooking up!
Our hands-on Korean cooking class was a big success. We learned about ingredients and techniques that were new to even our group of experienced cooks and enjoyed a buffet paired with Cape Classic South African wines donated by Dame Ellen Negrin. In addition to having fun, we generated a significant contribution to our scholarship fund thanks to a generous sponsorship from Shun Cutlery and space donated by our own Dame Suzi O’Rourke at Cooking by the Book. The enthusiastic response to the evening left me inspired to “cook up” more ideas for interactive classes that can help us to expand our boundaries and cook together. If you have suggestions, please share them with me or Dame Janeen Sarlin, our Program Committee Chair. We’re happy to brainstorm with you and help you figure out how to make them happen.
Just as we hoped, we’ve made a smooth transition in turning over most of our administrative tasks to our new management company, AEC Management Resources. Some of you have received messages from the AEC staff and have wondered if they’re legitimate. The answer is yes. Please do respond to anyone who reaches out to you with an email address that ends in @aecmanagement.com.
Now that we have fewer housekeeping chores, your Board of Directors and Committee Chairs have more time to spend on projects that will expand our visibility, advocacy, and fundraising efforts. You’ll be hearing about some big things coming up soon and we’ll be reaching out to you to volunteer your expertise.
I’ve been trying to pack in as many calls and visits with you as I can and I’m looking forward to connecting with more of you in the coming month. Don’t be shy. Call, email, or ping me to share your thoughts or ideas or just say hi! And whenever you post on social media, please remember to tag us at @lesdamesny on Instagram and Twitter and Les Dames d’Escoffier NY on Facebook so we can share all your accomplishments and adventures.
Wishing you all a cozy February with some St. Valentine’s Day treats mid-month.
